Rappelz is a free to play MMORPG released on November 3rd, 2006 by Webzen. Rappelz shines in many areas, including a large number of classes, a fantastic pet system and a unique Dungeon Siege Mode. Sadly, many of the gameplay mechanics are now dated compared to today’s MMOR’PG selection, and is victim of client issues. If you can look past that, Rappelz offers many amazing features, and it’s always great to revisit MMORPGs that helped set the standard for what the genre is today. Rappelz’s pet system was one of the first MMORPGs to offer a pet system that provide depth on this level, and even to this day many games don’t go to this extreme with their pet systems. In Rappelz you are able to catch and train virtually every creature that you encounter in the game. Your pets will assist you in fights and will even level up right along with you! In combination with this great feature, Rappelz also has the Dungeon Siege mode. In this mode your guild can take control of dungeons available in the game. By owning a dungeon, your guild obtains different bonuses including a ‘tax’ that forces other players to pay to your guild when they access this dungeon. With Rappelz’s very unique and robust features, it set its own place in the history books. One other feature that should be mentioned is the amount of classes available. You can choose from over 30 class types, and your character can be one of the three races in the universe. Not all of the classes can be played from the start. Most of them have to be unlocked by reaching set character and job levels.
