Avorion is a procedural co-op space sandbox in which players get to create their very own spaceships out of blocks that scale dynamically. The game was developed and published by Boxelware on January 23rd, 2017. A catastrophic event almost tore the entire galaxy apart, and now in the center of the cosmos lies a ring of destroyed hyperspace fabric that can't be bested by ordinary hyperspace engines. This catastrophe also created many hyperspace rifts and caused the Xsotan, a mysterious alien race, to appear. These beings have a way to surpass the destroyed hyperspace fabric but no one can contact them. The ships that these aliens use have been created from a new metal called Avorion. Maybe that's the key to overcoming the torn fabric of hyperspace. In the beginning, players are a nobody that has to work their way up. Start at the edge of the galaxy and work your way to the center that is filled with opportunity and danger. Player's ships can be equipped with lasers, chainguns, and all kinds of weaponry that are used to defeat foes in space. Destructible ships mean you get to watch someone's spacecraft fall apart at the parts you hit. Stunning nebulas and obscure asteroid fields lie between you and hidden treasures. Find many kinds of factions and become either a friend or a foe. Avorion has complex ship-building mechanics thanks to the voxel style, which means that there are no limits to ship size or ship complexity. Create a city specialized for transport with lots of cargo space or make a flying fortress with devastating weapons and powerful shields.
